Calling all plant-fanatics, weed watchers, and nature novices!!!!

It's wildflower season!!! Merge your enthusiasm for science and nature through the fascinating and abstract world of plants. Join Kris Garnier, your passionate plant guide and herbarium artist, for a wildflower walk and plant collecting followed by a mini-plant lab as we build our first year’s collection of White Feather Farm herbarium specimens!

Before our identification walk, Garnier will give a brief statement on plant collecting ethics, the importance of building a herbarium, and demonstrate how to press plants. On our walk, we will explore the native, naturalized, and invasive plants growing on the beautiful White Feather Farm property and learn plant identification basics. After our stroll, we will study the intricacy of our focus plants under microscopes and loupes. Our extensive botanical library will also be available for more detailed information on our collected plants.

The walk is approximately an hour-long followed by the open-ended mini-plant lab.

Suggested materials: bring a shoulder bag or backpack with your favorite plant ID book (not required), notebook or sketchbook, pen or pencil, insect/tick repellant, water, brimmed hat, sun protection, sensible shoes, and a passion for plants! Cameras are definitely welcome! In late autumn we will schedule our first WFF 2021 Plant Preservation Project workshop. Contact us for more details and visit goflowergo.com for more info on Kris Garnier.
